A headrest set too low or too far back does nothing in the moment it's needed most — a sudden stop or impact. The top of the headrest should sit level with the top of your head (or at least your ears), just a couple centimeters from the back of your head. Recline your seat back to roughly 100-110 degrees rather than fully upright or too far back; leaning too far back forces your head and neck to crane forward to see the road, building the same kind of strain as slouching at a desk. On long drives, the fix isn't a fancier seat — it's stopping every couple of hours to stand, roll your shoulders, and reset.
